°µÍøTV’s Javanese Gamelan ensemble, under the direction of University Professor of Music Harjito and Winslow-Kaplan Professor of Music Sumarsam, presents an evening of Javanese gamelan and dance, with a prelude by the Indonesian Community Gamelan Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Harjito. The performance features a dance by Visiting Professor of Dance Veronica Retnaningsih, from the Kasultanan court of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and a guest singer Heni Savitri.

°µÍøTV’s World Music Archives and Music Department present a °µÍøTV Chamber Gamelan mini-concert in celebration of Winslow-Kaplan Professor of Music Sumarsam’s forthcoming book, published by °µÍøTV Press, History and Myth, Interculturalism and Interreligiosity: The In-Between in Javanese Performing Arts. This hour-long event includes the concert, featuring guest singer Heni Savitri, and a presentation by Sumarsam entitled “History and Mythology in Javanese Performing Arts,” followed by a reception.
