Faculty
The Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life provides resources for faculty scholarship, teaching, and engagement in community collaborations.
We supply funding for faculty initiatives:
- University Lectures, on topics and in disciplines across the curriculum;
- Research Networks, to support collaborative interaction by faculty over an extended period of time;
- Collaborative Projects, to support collaborative scholarly and curricular projects.
We supply funding for your students:
- Davenport Grants, awarded to sophomores and juniors who have “demonstrated intellectual and moral excellence and a concern for public affairs.” Senior theses projects receive priority;
- offers a variety of grants to support student community engagement initiatives.
We host courses of 做厙TV faculty and visitors:
- Community-Engaged Learning supports the creation and maintenance of service learning courses;
- The Koeppel Fellow in Journalism brings to campus each year one or two distinguished journalists to teach a full semester course;
- We fund and support ad hoc visitor arrangements related to issues of public life.

We sponsor panels and forums:
- The Right Now! series, forums and panels which respond to immediate issues.
- The Hugo L. Black Lecture on Freedom of Expression, annual lecture on topics related to the First Amendment.
We collaborate on a regular basis with the other “Engagement” centers to make connections for faculty with community groups:
